Item #: SCP-7777
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: A perimeter has been set up around the electromagnetic radius of SCP-7777 and is constantly monitored by surveillance systems. Five agents are stationed and patrol the perimeter to prevent civilians from breaching the exclusion zone of SCP-7777. SCP-7777 is to be checked thrice a week for any animals or individuals that may be under its effect.
Description: SCP-7777 is a tunnel located within a forested area in the town of Northridge Hills in Maine, USA. SCP-7777 cuts through an impassable wall of rocks and trees that make passage over SCP-7777 through the dense vegetation difficult. SCP-7777 contains a circular area that displays a strong electromagnetic field that stretches for 3 kilometers that increases in intensity towards the center. All electronic devices and technology malfunction when used inside this area.
SCP-7777 possesses temporal properties in the form of a closed loop. As subjects that observe the other end through the tunnel, they will see an entity that superficially resembles them. Depending on the choices taken, the individual on the other end of tunnel will always be seen going up the hill to the left with the observer following behind. Once the observer passes through the other end of SCP-7777, another person identical to the observer, will emerge from the left of SCP-7777 at the opposite end and experience what the original left off1. The manifestation of these individuals (designated SCP-7777-1) will increase at an exponential rate with every added instance. SCP-7777-1 entities will continue to repeat this activity in perpetuity unless an outside force interferes with the process of them following their counterparts.
If the process is interrupted, the instances will stop following their counterparts and continue to actively exist as the same person with no change to their memory, conditions, or temperament2. Instances will express surprise at their counterparts and how their continued existence does not affect time.
Discovery/Incident:
SCP-7777 was discovered following reports of electromagnetic disturbances within a certain region in a secluded area just outside Northridge Hills city limits.
Foundation agents had discovered SCP-7777 along with a small house nearby. Taking up residence in the building was a man, Peter Martell, and his twin daughters Ada and Janet. Two Foundation agents (Agent Ismuth and Agent Ryder) entered the premises with the intent to interview the Martells of the anomaly.
Before Mr. Martell could be questioned about his property, he had asked to be excused under the pretense of relieving himself in the upstairs bathroom. 39 seconds later, a loud gunshot was heard. Agent Ismuth was sent to investigate while Agent Ryder stayed behind to pacify the Martell twins. Agent Ismuth later discovered Mr. Martell's corpse lying on the toilet with a visible ballistic exit cavity over his forehead and holding a .500 S&W Magnum revolver in his hand3.
Interview:
The bones of these instances are uniquely different from one another and appear extremely distorted beyond what should be physically and spatially possible for the skeletal structure of a human child.
Due to the town of Northridge Hills exhibiting the same electromagnetic properties, along with other anomalous occurances emanating from an unidentified source outside that of SCP-7777, it has been assigned as a Nexus under the designation "Nx-05".
