Special Containment Procedures: Located in Site-3, SCP-9xxx instances are to be kept in a biological containment unit within a hermetically sealed chamber room. In the event of new instances, the oldest instances must be disposed of properly via the Waste Management Division.
No other personnel are to enter the chamber for any reason other than maintenance. Personnel acting irrational or suspicious around or outside SCP-9xxx's chamber must be reported to the nearest acting officer and detained immediately for questioning and evaluation. Research into SCP-9xxx's paranormal properties are to be relegated to the office of Dr. Gregory Drayton1.
Description: Discovered in 2006 via isolated reports, SCP-9xxx is a condition affecting stillborn human babies within the town of St. Silver, Montana.
Effects are immediate as medical personnel involved during the delivery such as nurses and obstetricians will register the deceased fetus2 as alive and healthy. Parents of the infant will also not notice this and will begin to act as if it were still living.
Parents of the infant will behave as normally as any other first-time parent couple. All associates, such as close friends, family members, colleagues, acquaintances, etc. will also act normally around the baby and not notice anything abnormal or strange. The paranormality seems to affect human cognition regardless of how close or distant of a relationship the individuals may have to the baby's parents.
Within a few (2-4) days, the infant's body will start to desiccate and the flesh will petrify. All internal organs will rot and liquefy and exit the body through any open orifices that have not been closed or sealed via the petrification process. Parents of the infant will react negatively to the foul-smelling odor of the rotten contents but will not make the logical connection between the smell to the infant and will still behave as normal. Over time, these parents will become neglectful of their own personal duties and/or responsibilities in favor of taking care of the infant. Parents will lack any sense of self-preservation, bodily hygiene, appearance, and other forms of personal care. This change in behavior is noticeable to others however parents will excuse this sudden change in behavior as typical parental stress or outright refuse to explain in simple terms entirely.
Parents of an SCP-9xxx instance will become aggressive, as is typical of any parents' reaction to the abduction of their children. If separated from the SCP for longer than 3 hours, both parents will spontaneously vanish, leaving behind only their clothes, accessories, and implants, along with any and all information regarding their existence.
This extends to all forms of documentation about them3 along with the memories from their associates. If asked, individuals will become oblivious to their existence, as if they had never met or known anyone like them across their entire lives.
The only exception to this appear to be crude drawings of the infant's parents, however as the artist ages, these drawings will also disappear as well.
