Item #: SCP-XX

Object Class: Neutralized

Special Containment Procedures: If SCP-XX re-appears, it is to be contained and questioned immediately. This file is cleared for immediate redesignation as "Keter (provisional)" in such an event.

All evidence of abnormal activity from SCP-XX-A has been concealed, and SCP-XX's disappearance has been covered up as a missing person incident with no leads.

Description: SCP-XX refers to Gary McDougle, a 43-year old United States citizen who was last known to be inhabitating Saratoga Springs, New York.

Through interviews and document reviews, Foundation investigators have identified the following about SCP-XX's background:

  • No known events (e.g. birthday, work anniversary, special occasions) were planned for the date of SCP-XX-A.
  • McDougle was born in Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to Saratoga Springs at the age of 11.
  • McDougle had graduated from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania, before moving back to New York after getting a bachelor's degree.
  • McDougle had worked at Goldenrod Analysts as an office worker for 8 years. Its work and professional status were unnotable and largely unregarded.
  • McDougle was a heterosexual man who had been engaged in off-and-on romantic relationships but had been single since 2015.
  • McDougle was a long-time fan of the popular sitcom The Office.
  • McDougle enjoyed barbeque chicken and edamame, and strongly disliked shellfish.

Prior to SCP-XX-A, it exhibited no signs of any anomalous properties nor any knowledge beyond the Veil, and is believed to be an ordinary human male within its demographic.

SCP-XX-A refers to a significant incident involving SCP-XX, which occurred on 2017/06/21.

Local Time Description
8:17 AM Initial reports of a potential anomaly.
8:30 AM Two local Foundation agents arrive at the scene, and report immediately being fired upon, with one agent being killed immediately.

Addendum XX-2: Aftermath

Foundation casualties were significant, and recovery from both the breach to normalcy and damage to Foundation facilities took several months. For a full damage report, see Document 297503-10.

Starting on 2017/06/22, the day after SCP-XX-A, operatives began surveillance of numerous locations and people important to SCP-XX or relevant to the incident the day before. After ten months, including the organization of several search parties, no sign of SCP-XX had been identified. After this point, the anomaly was redesignated as Neutralized and present containment procedures were put into effect.

A search of SCP-XX's residence was also conducted, but little of interest was found. The most notable item was a daily planner: each day's plans and activities were meticulously recorded up to the day before SCP-XX-A, but all were mundane and expected. On the day of, no events or items were recorded. Instead, written in a manner that entirely disregarded the existing structure of the planner and prior text, the number "31,492" is carefully written in felt tip marker several dozen times. Dating of the ink suggests it was written in the morning of SCP-XX-A, around 7 AM.
