Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is indistinguishable from a mundane skin condition barring subdermal analysis or other exceptional circumstances. In case of such circumstances, Foundation agents are to intervene by amnesticizing all witnesses, substituting the patient's previous doctor or dermatologist with a Foundation-trained replacement if necessary.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a spontaneously developing skin condition. The first stage of SCP-XXXX is marked by dry, cracked skin, starting around the hands, elbows, and knees, along with the patient's skin hardening similar to scleroderma. This stage develops for approximately nine days, after which the second stage begins. During this stage, the patient's skin will begin drying and hardening further throughout the whole body, inhibiting movement. The second stage develops for approximately 14 hours. The third stage is marked by the patient's hardened skin coming off in small pieces, revealing a layer of healthy skin underneath. This process takes 10-12 hours unassisted, but typically takes around one hour due to the patient manually tearing the outer layer of their skin. The patient's skin is then unaffected for the next three or four days, after which the first stage begins again.
Subdermal analysis indicates that during the first stage of the condition, the layer of skin underneath the external layer occasionally develops markings or wounds. In all cases, these correspond to markings or wounds on the patient's skin which appear as a result of external circumstances in the near future, before the second stage. Patients have shown injuries under their skin before being involved in accidents corresponding to the same injuries, and in testing, tattoos given to a patient during the middle of the first stage show up in subdermal analysis beneath the skin at the outset of the first stage.
SCP-XXXX spontaneously develops in adults, with 92 known patients worldwide. The condition was first discovered in March 2008, and cases have since been growing at a steady rate.
Addendum XXXX-1: D-47480 Incident (2028/04/05)
During routine subdermal analysis of D-47480, a large laceration was found across his chest. No test was scheduled involving any kind of injury, prompting Foundation agents to investigate. D-20027 was soon found to have obtained an improvised weapon in his cell, consistent with the wound on the chest of D-47480. The weapon was confiscated and destroyed, and D-20027 was monitored for the remaining cycle of SCP-XXXX. D-47480 proceeded through the third stage of SCP-XXXX, tearing off his skin and finding the wound underneath. The wound healed before the first stage reocurred. No other anomalous effects were observed.
Addendum XXXX-2: D-47480 Status (2028/04/27)
Following the D-47480 incident, subdermal analysis showed more wounds across his torso. These wounds were found under his skin in the same manner as before, though they did not heal before the subsequent first stage began, which revealed the development of more wounds across the whole surface of his body. Before D-47480 reached the third stage, the doctor assigned to him also began developing laceration-like wounds on their skin, as did several other personnel at the same site. The cause for this is currently unknown.
Addendum XXXX-3: Site-6A Status (2028/05/05)
Research into the condition of Site-6A personnel has found it to be the result of a skin disease unrelated to SCP-XXXX, caused by a viral contagion. All personnel involved have been quarantined, and signs of infection are being monitored in areas close to the site.
No such skin disease was known to exist prior to the D-47480 incident.
