SCP-XXXX

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be observed by Mobile Task Force Tau-77 ("Spheres Within Spheres")1 for potentially disruptive anomalous activity during the months of September and October. During Tashlich, MTF Units are to be positioned upstream of the Daugava river to report any extreme cases of SCP-XXXX-1 manifestation. SCP-XXXX-1 manifestations are to be judged for termination on a case-by-case basis.

In the event MTF Tau-77 fails to report on Tashlich within 30 minutes of the service supposedly ending, or the response is illegitimate in some capacity, a backup Mobile Task Force is to be sent. If this MTF fails as well, additional orders are to be made by the Project Lead, currently Doctor Moshe Katz, depending on circumstance and nature of emergency.

Following the first and currently only incident of occurrence, the following procedures have been put in place: In the event an SCP-XXXX-2A instance manifests (see Addendum B), all Task Forces situated in the area, as well as possible civilians in the path of the entity, are to be be escorted out of the entity's path until backup can arrive. Backup forces are to concentrate Non-Physical Displacement Neutralizers (nPDNs) on SCP-XXXX-2A until fully effective, at which time SCP-XXXX-2A is to be terminated via long-range weaponry.

SCP-XXXX-3 is to be available to personnel working with anomalies which require heightened strength, memetic resistance, increased immunity to bacteria, or those who are suffering from anomalously-caused depression or anxiety, by discretion of the anomaly's HMCL. Personnel are not to consistently consume SCP-XXXX-3 or consume SCP-XXXX-3 in excessive amounts.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the town of Pļaviņas, Latvia, located along the Daugava river. All ethnically Jewish individuals within SCP-XXXX's borders will experience its primary anomalous effect, regardless if permanently residing within SCP-XXXX or visiting. SCP-XXXX's local population is primarily Jewish by both ethnicity and religion- approximately 92% of the town is ethnically Jewish, while 64% are observant in some capacity.

Annually on the first of Tishrei2 at sundown, the residents of SCP-XXXX congregate at the Daugava river for a religious ceremony known as Tashlich. During this, an individualized prayer service is performed, and is concluded by the shaking of the person's garments. This process will result in the manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1 is the collective designation for a group of parasitic organisms. SCP-XXXX-1 vary in physiology depending on specific factors of the individual, most notably being the amount and type of negative actions partaken in the prior lunar year, as according to the Torah. Common features of SCP-XXXX-1 instances include red coloration, multiple skewed limbs, and disproportionately long tongues. SCP-XXXX-1 are unconditionally hostile, and will attempt to attack or indirectly damage the villagers or village.

On the tenth day of Tishrei, which corresponds with the holiday of Yom Kippur, the residents of SCP-XXXX will congregate at a place of worship (typically a synagogue) for lengthy prayer services while fasting. Once the prayer services have been completed by an individual and said individual has fasted in accordance with Jewish practices, the SCP-XXXX-1 instance(s) associated with them will undergo spontaneous combustion, which has been designated SCP-XXXX-2, and produce SCP-XXXX-3.

SCP-XXXX-3 is a fluid substance produced by the combustion of SCP-XXXX-1 via SCP-XXXX-2. When ~0.1 liters of SCP-XXXX-3 orally ingested by a human subject, numerous psychological and physiological changes occur over the course of three hours, and will last for ~17 hours before ceasing effect. These include:

  • Increased CRV by up to 12.5 points.
  • Increased physiological strength and endurance.
  • Increased intelligence.
  • Increased immune system effectiveness.
  • Decrease in intensity of stress and depression-related mental illnesses.

The molecular structure of the substance is unknown, and all attempts to reproduce SCP-XXXX-3 have failed.

Addendum A - Abridged SCP-XXXX-1 Incident Log

Subject: Moishe Jēkabsons

Corresponding SCP-XXXX-1 Instance: A large number of microscopic organisms resembling Calanus hyperboreus3 manifested in approximately 50% of SCP-XXXX's food supply, rendering it inedible. Organisms regularly emitted electromagnetic pulses and, as a consequence, SCP-XXXX's communication was disrupted and supplies were not replenished.

Consequence of SCP-XXXX-1: SCP-XXXX residents developed a highly efficient resource distribution system based on injecting SCP-XXXX-3 into crops. Currently under review by the Foundation ParaEconomics Division for use in long-term Foundation agricultural sites.

Associated Misdeed: Believed to be excessive gluttony, or stealing food from other villagers.

TBA

Subject: Euģenija Petrovske

Corresponding SCP-XXXX-1 Instance: During Tashlich, a humanoid entity fused to an arachnid-legged horse rose out of the water holding a black ram's horn. The entity used the horn to create an auditory cognitohazard, affecting the residents in attendance. Affected residents became listless and wandered aimlessly, allowing for the entity to feed off their cerebrospinal fluid.

Consequence of SCP-XXXX-1: The subject was unaffected by the cognitohazard, and after two days, terminated the entity with a fireplace poker. All residents regained mobility soon after. In addition to the discovery of a Type-XVI cognitohazard, now designated AUD-XVI-006, the subject displayed a previously undiscovered CRV resistance of 79.2, which is being tested by the Memetics Division.

Associated Misdeed: Unknown- believed to be related to the holiday of Rosh Hashana itself.

Addendum B - Incident Log XXXX-2-04

On October 3rd 2005, the Daugava river dried up temporarily, preventing the Jews in SCP-XXXX from performing Tashlich. Despite this, ten days after, the prayer services were still able to commence on Yom Kippur. Upon completion, a non-opaque blue entity resembling Nephila clavipes4 appeared at the center of the town and began to navigate towards Site-01. The entity was successfully terminated through the use of Non-Physical Displacement Neutralizers (nPDN) with no casualties. Of note, however, is that any personnel who had come within close proximity of the entity displayed signs of unwarranted aggresison, narcissism, and in some cases, sociopathic tendencies following exposure, and the entity minutely grew in size. The entity henceforth has been designated SCP-XXXX-2A.

SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX Concerns

Dear Rabbi,

We've talked (and disagreed) in the past regarding Judaic anomalies and how they're handled by the Foundation, but I'm mainly here just to ask some questions in regards to this specific entity, SCP-XXXX. I've read through the file and, well, I'm not quite sure I understand the significance of everything. What is the massive redaction in the Containment Procedures and the redaction of the entire Project, with the disconcerting name "Tochacha"? What happened in Addendum B, and how does it relate to the rest of the anomaly? Is the Foundation not concerned with the security and information of the anomaly leaking? And most importantly, is it ethical to even allow this to continue?
